We aim to create a closer dialogue between members and representatives of the Russian Diaspora and to promote Greek-Russian cultural & historical heritage links. We intend to organise educational lectures, tours, voluntary works & publications in media to encourage bonds between Russian immigrants local Greek communities. These will concentrate on language skills, Russian & Greek culture, traditions and history.

In Germany, in the city of Essen from 12 to 16 December, took place, the fifth meeting of the European project Grundtvig «Towards an active European citizenship"

It was attended by partners from the UK, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia and Finland. Greece was presented at the meeting by the Union of Russian emigrants in Greece named after S.I.Demidova The aim of this project is to develop cultural and educational dialogue between the representatives of the Russian emigration European countries, as well as analysis of the process of integration of Russian-speaking senior-immigrants groups in the community of the European Union countries. Due to such activities, the project participants have an opportunity to share experiences and methods of work with immigrants from the former Soviet Union, which are used to improve the process of adaptation and integration of immigrants in their new country of residence. Our host in Germany was the organization "Social Service of Catholic women in Essen" which organized for us an extensive program of the workshop, which helped to introduce the work of their organization. At a meeting with representatives of social services Essen were considered especially the integration process of the older generation of Russian-speaking population in Bulgaria, Greece and Germany. The participants got acquainted with the basic principles of the social work on the problems of immigrants of all nationalities and ages. Special attention was paid to the social program "Decent old age" to reform the traditional nursing homes. Marina Ratchina explained how the successful integration of Russian-speaking seniors was made by their organization. They keep having regular thematic meetings, guided tours, sporting events, as well as language courses for senior-immigrants. Walter Mueller, the represent of the NGO "Council on Aging" told the audience about other support programs that help speed up the process of integration of immigrants of all ages and nationalities. "We regularly inform people about changes in legalization, about their benefits and possible entitlements," said Mueller, and noted that the organizations involved in these issues, supported by the state and funded by social services”. Project participants attended one of the most important cultural centers in Germany - the city of Cologne, and also visited the main Catholic church of the country - the Cologne Cathedral in case to learn about the culture and history of Germany.
